"Life Guidance and Brainstorming" is not counseling or psychiatric health care. Counseling is typically long-term with the goal of becoming emotionally healthy by resolving personal, social, or psychological problems with the help of a trained and licensed counselor. On the other hand, "Life Guidance and Brainstorming" sessions are short-term (typically 1-4 sessions), goal-specific, targeted, non-medical sessions focused on actionable items such as:
"From the time we met I have always admired Sherlonda’s business sense, her fearlessness, and her zest for life. Sherlonda has a unique way of influencing everyone around her without trying. When it came to my new business, who better to consult with? Sherlonda helped me to consider options and paths that I may not have otherwise considered. She asked me questions and challenged me to expand my perspective and clarify my focus. I left our meeting with an action plan that was easy to implement. Sherlonda provided a judgement free zone that allowed me to explore my dreams and “wander out loud” as she would put it!" - Dr. C (Business Owner)
Liking or loving someone who suffers with a psychiatric disorder can be challenging. Over the years we've had family members and friends of patients ask how can they tell which behavior is part of the "disease" and which part is just the patient being "unreasonable." Having a good understanding of things such as the cause, symptoms, triggers and treatment plans of mental illnesses is a great place to start to be able to provide support to your loved one.
Sessions are conducted virtually. Convenient scheduling available and participants can log in from multiple locations, great for including family and friends who don't live nearby.
Many people get psychiatry (medical diagnosing/medication) confused with counseling (coping mechanisms, accountability, "talking to someone"). We believe that optimum care can be achieved when both avenues of care are utilized.
Although our providers with PsychMYway do not provide counseling, we have qualified professional counselors that we can recommend!
